Sharing this insight with you just in case you’re dampening your impact (and income) by thinking you suck at networking. By the way, this applies for in-person networking event & online networking!
“So I had a big ah-ha this morning.
I was going through one of the Mande modules in her Conscious Conversion Challenge and I came upon this part where she was talking about networking.
In the module she says she liked being on stage, but at the time, didn’t like networking events because she’d have all kinds of judgment thoughts.
And suddenly, it hit me like lightning.
My BFF and I would go to conferences and such.
She’d meet all these wonderful people and have many in-depth conversations.
I’d always say, “oh, you can talk to people so easily, I don’t know how you do it.”
And she’d have business cards and new connections for things, whereas I’d end up in a corner somewhere alone and nobody was trying to come up to me and talk to me.
So I’m seeing this in my head as I’m doing this module and I realize that when I’d be at these places and have free time, I’d look around and think, “I don’t want to talk to that one because bla-bla-bla, and I don’t want to connect with that one because. . . etc.”
So I was always walking around in judgment.
I never saw that before.
I just thought that I had gone there and none of those people were MY people.
So just wanted to thank Mande for bringing that awareness to me.
That was something I had never recognized in myself before.
I probably would still be shy at my next event, but I would be more aware if I was in judgment and be able to kick myself out of it.”

Attending live events is a major marketing opportunity that many business owners shy away from for a variety of reasons.
But remember that in your overall business plan, you shouldn’t be planning ONLY for the quick sale.
Ultimately, you want people to remember you and you should develop relationships with others both online and in real life so they will refer you to their circle of friends.
Forming that relationship is also how people will get to know, like, and trust you, which will lead to sales and other referrals.
